Improv Comedy Workshops in Jackson Heights, Queens
Improv is fun, healthy, and easy to start. You don’t need any previous acting experience or special equipment. Studies show that participating in improv comedy:
Builds confidence
Promotes resilience
Strengthens collaboration skills.
But the most compelling reason to take improv classes?
IMPROV IS FUN!
I’m Annie Unnold: Improv Performer, Girl Scout Leader, and Jackson Heights Mom. I’ve been performing improv in NYC since 2010, and teaching improv with FoHi Improv since 2022.
I started Jackson Heights Improv in 2026 to bring kids’ improv classes to the neighborhood, with plans to add adult classes soon.

Improv is a a live performance where actors create stories on the spot without a script. Using the idea of “Yes, And,” performers accept whatever reality a scene partner offers ("Yes") and add new information to advance it ("And").
-
No! No experience required.
-
Nothing to purchase besides the class. All props, sets, and costumes are imaginary and thus: free.

We meet in the basement party room at the Queensboro Restaurant at 80-02 Northern Blvd.
Note: It is down a set of stairs, with no elevator.

Right now, our classes are for kids in Grades 3-5, but we are hoping to expand that soon.
-
We stretch and share to get to know each other
We warm up our bodies & our minds with a few short warm up games
We work on a few exercises that teach us to work together, listen to our fellow improvisors, and build toward longer scenes and stories

This is a drop-off class, but in the final class of a session, we will have a performance for parents/caregivers to see what we’ve been up to!
